Hercules is the son of Zeus and a human woman.  From birth, he demonstrated amazing strength and as his life went on, he became the epitome of physical power.  Hera, wife of Zeus, was angry with her husband's indiscretions, and cursed Hercules with a life of violence.  She drove him mad, and in his madness, he killed two of his own sons.  In order to redeem himself and prove himself worthy of immortality, Hercules was forced to complete 10 great labors, that a mere human would have little hope of accomplishing.  Hercules succeeded in all of these tasks, but two of them required outside assistance.  Because of this, two additional tasks were set before him.  When these were done, Hercules was granted immortality, and a seat in the Pantheon.  In addition to the twelve labors, Hercules, hungry for battle, had many other adventures after that.

Continuing the Story:
Hercules is an immortal, and could be placed in any time period as a reckless thrill seeker in search of good ale, women, fights and a chance at glory.  Of course, nobody in the world would actually believe he is the legendary Hercules.

Equipment and Abilities:
Hercules was the pinnacle of manhood, stronger and faster than any man alive.  The Olympics are a tribute to his skill and power.  As a Demigod, his strength may have surpassed even that of the Gods themselves.  He had little patience for academic learning, but was well versed in more practical matters, such as the martial arts.  He often wore the hide of the Nemean Lion and carried a large club, which he used to mash his enemies.
